Career Tips

Prepare your next application with a clear CV, a confident interview, and a safer job search.

Before you send your CV

  • Put your name, phone number, and professional email at the top. Leave out bank details and identification numbers.
  • Tailor your summary and skills to the role. Use the job description to identify relevant experience, without exaggerating.
  • Describe achievements with specific examples. Include education, recent work, internships, or relevant projects.
  • Check spelling and dates, then save a readable PDF with your name in the filename. Follow the employer’s requested format.

Prepare for your interview

  • Research the employer using its official website, and review the responsibilities for the role.
  • Prepare examples using the situation, task, action, and result structure. Practise explaining what you personally contributed.
  • Confirm the time, location, or video link. Plan your travel or test your connection beforehand.
  • Prepare questions about the team, expectations, and next steps. Keep a copy of your CV nearby.

Search safely

  • Confirm that the vacancy appears on the employer’s official channels. Check the sender’s email address and website domain.
  • Treat requests for recruitment fees, passwords, or banking information as warning signs.
  • Do not send sensitive documents until you have independently confirmed who is requesting them and why.
  • Keep a record of your applications, deadlines, and employer communications.
